PATCHED Windows XP Professional – SP3 X86

The Windows XP SP3 upgrade can be downloaded directly from Microsoft. However, I would not install Windows XP SP3 on systems with AMD chips unless a special hotfix has been applied first. This hotfix needs to be applied before SP3, otherwise your system may get stuck in a loop and never start.

Two important notes: Firstly, you cannot download the KB now, since it is not yet in the Microsoft Download Center. Secondly, as far as I can tell, the Windows XP SP3 hotfix KB is new, and not present in the Windows 7 Technical Preview version which I have made available to you before this post. It may be important that we begin re-syncing the Windows XP SP3 hotfix KB to the Technical Preview or final version of Windows 7 in the near future.

Windows XP SP3 should install fine. If you plan on getting into the more involved XP hacking (like SQL injection, IIS redirection, etc), the version that came from them is best.
The warnings that you have are not based on any of the SP3 patches but a combination of Windows Update messages. If you don’t want to re-install over your current Windows XP install, this is the safest option from a security standpoint.
