“Gabbar Singh Movie” is released on 1 May 2010. The film is directed by Kabir Khan, who earlier directed the dramas School Haath (2008), Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2009), Dabangg (2010) and Jolly LLB (2012). The story and screenplay of the film is written by Kabir Khan and Takesh Sharma who earlier wrote the script for the comedy blockbuster film 3 Idiots in 2009. The film stars Anil Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Kangana Ranaut and Paresh Rawal, the entire cast of the film is roped in by the director. The soundtrack is composed by Anu Malik, while the cinematography is by Siddharth P. Varma and the editing is by Achyut Puranik.
The setting of the film is 1995, when India was preparing for the government general elections. The elections were won by the Bharatiya Janata Party which is currently in opposition. The film revolves around the life of Gabbar Singh (Paresh Rawal), a criminal who comes from a poor family and is famous for his skill in brawling. He is a contract killer, who specializes in eliminating political opponents. His task is to eliminate his political opponent and the entire gang that is associated with him and their direct or indirect supporters (while the film is set in 1995 and the character is based on a gangster who was linked to the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi in 1991, the part where Gandhi’s assassin is killed by Singh is set in 2002). Hence, he first kills Rajiv Gandhi and then tries to kill Sitaram Raje, who is one of the prime ministerial candidates for that election.
The film was released on May 1st 2010.
The film was a moderate success and grossed over 5.5 crore worldwide.
Plot
“Gabbar Singh” is a biographical film about Gabbar Singh. The plot revolves around the life of Gabbar Singh, a gangster based in Mumbai. He is a contract killer who specializes in eliminating political opponents. His task is to eliminate his political opponent and the entire gang that is associated with him and their direct or indirect supporters. Gabbar Singh’s life revolves around three things; his desire to prove himself as an underworld don of Mumbai, his obsession to kill corrupt politicians and the people who are associated with them and his never-ending quest for women.
