Only reason I gave it 5 stars is because this application was a huge help when my computer locked up mid shutdown and I could not use my keyboard or mouse to access the rest of my pc. All I had to do was click on “Alt” to bring up the shutdown/restart menu and from there I was able to access my keyboard and mouse and then reboot my pc. And now I can start my pc with a keystroke instead of having to reboot.

Eli – Exactly. Every time I wanted to shut down my PC, the first thing that would pop up on screen was a blank error window telling me that my system is in some way “locked” and I needed to close the program and reboot it. Even though I would already have shut down my PC at that point, it was always a hassle to try to dig through various error messages in order to figure out what the problem was and if I was able to open my PC again.
With Alternative Shutdown, now I can shut down my computer by double-clicking on the “Alt” button, and then just rest my mouse over that button. If there’s a problem, an error message will pop up, but that’s it. No more error messages. No more pointless action loops. No more headaches. ?
