The Atari Lynx (1995) is an 8-bit portable game console released by Atari on August 24, 1995. It was an international success, selling more than 12 million units. An estimated 30 million Lynx games were sold. While Atari’s first portable game system, it was of poor quality and it was discontinued almost immediately.

Only available for the North American market, the Atari 2600 ran for four years until 1994 when it was replaced by the Game Gear. The player simulates the action of one or two players on a small LCD screen similar to old party games.

Jobs then decided that Apple needed a game console of its own, and although the Apple III has a reputation for being a game machine, it was more a lot of boxes on a board, like the Commodore 64.
