Once the banks are in the project, we go to the editor, and add a new track, using the menu at the top right of the GUI. Then, add a new file, and browse to Banks folder. Add two new sample banks to the project, calling them even-indexed and odd-indexed.
The script is the part youll see that calls the track, file and bank. Note that if youve got a large number of banks, you can call the banks in order, from 0 to the largest number, so that FMOD has a chance to load them in order.
From there we can retrieve the asset database of the project and edit an asset of our choice to extract its sampling and/or waveform data.
This data can then be used for generating a bank of samples that will have the same parameters as the original (sampling, waveform etc), or a new bank for that specific project (some DSP programs and website tools can also automatically generate ready-to-use banks that you can then edit and export as needed).
In most cases, all you need to do is choose the appropriate variables and export. You can also automate this process by having a script that will create the bank files and the corresponding.meta files. This, in turn, will allow you to randomly play your sample banks during your game play, possibly with volume and pitch change, or in sequence.
The generative capability is made possible by being able to control the variables that define a sound effect. These are then combined together in an equation to define a sound. Here is an example of a similar bank generated by Xsim:

hi simile team, i am new to simile, and i am working with a lot of sample banks from sims 3. i was wondering if it would be possible to change the name of the sound that is played when someone clicks on the skull in the hospital? the name of the sound is “new_patient”. i would like to change it to “new_patient_new”. i have tried to change it, but the sound is still the same. does anyone know how to change this? thanks jeremy 🙂
hi simile team, i have been following your development on the forums and would like to know how to use the bitmap sampling method in simile’s sample bank generator. i am using the windows version, but can use another version if you would prefer. i am using the sample bank generator to set up a new sample bank, and i am having a bit of trouble. the procedure i have been following is: 1. create the bank with the add samples dialog box. 2. once the bank is set up, i select all of the samples and cut/copy/paste them into the bank. after this is done, i select the bank from the main window. 3. in the bank selector, i select the channel from the list. 4. this opens the channel selector.
this function generates a random sample. there are a few restrictions to this function. first, it has a very limited number of potential outputs, so it is not meant to be used to generate large numbers of samples. second, it does not use the system’s random number generator, but a separate one.
