The 1795 Treaty of Amiens was part of the foundation of the “Holy Alliance”, a loose confederation of the great European powers allied to set aside their differences in order to lead the fight against the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Revolutions. In return, France was granted a generous series of territorial concessions. In practice, however, Napoleon’s success of the previous decades showed the wisdom of his own words from the 7 years before the revolution: “to be great, it is necessary to have the whole world on a string”. Napoleon dreamed of annexing the bulk of Germany to France’s empire, but as usual it was his opponents, and particularly the Bourbons of the restored French monarchy, who would be caught off-guard.

Thomas Paine was born a week after the death of George Washington. Small, slight and ill-educated, his parents could afford neither books nor schooling, and he had to go to work to put bread on the table. Described by many as “the first American”, he was perhaps the most influential democrat and republican in modern history and spent more than 10 years in the United States fighting for the cause of liberty and equality.
In 1791, he published a pamphlet of political and economic reasoning named ‘Common Sense’, in which he argued that independence and democracy were inseparable. His whole life was a testament to his belief in freedom, human rights and a strong state.

It doesn’t take long to figure out why this pernicious doctrine has caused so much bloodshed and injustice throughout the centuries. If this statement is not a challenge to political actions of any government on any continent, then it is rather absurd to claim that the desire to set up and use unlimited governmental power is a fundamental right we all have. Instead, it is a fundamental threat to the rights of all people in any country. And the mistake is not simply caused by the staggering power inherent in government, but also by the enormous lack of power to resist that power.
If the state is the most powerful force in the world, why are human rights, and especially the most fundamental right to life, being trampled? The state is just like any other social group. Only the state calls itself the powerful and holy, so the person who has the physical force, even if he/she is “just a person,” has an obligation to be a conscious and conscientious human being. Server Problems

Interface Tweaks
For our Interface Tweaks special, we have three things to show you.
Scroller Center
In EU4, there is one small problem with how the de-cluttering works. The map stays as-is while you are flicking through the map with the scroller. This is fine in normal use of the editor, but if the de-cluttering is scheduled to run, it isn’t fine – you’ll find yourself stuck at a map or city portrait when this happens. To fix this, rather than automatically deleting and then rebuilding the map, could we just have our de-clutter check if the map is already building when it’s scheduled to start. If not, delete and build. If so, don’t bother doing anything.
Scrolling Speed
A user-impacting change in speed was made for the fine-tuning. Previously the scroller ran much more quickly, having six times as many ticks. To keep the same pace for all players, the speed has been reduced to three times as many ticks. This means that no matter how fast you play, you’ll stay on roughly the same pace as anyone else, moving forward through time.
Touchpad and Mouse Movement
In EU4, by default the mouse lags a little behind the touchpad. This is to account for one-handed gaming with a mouse, and means players using a touchpad can give it a spin and still feel reasonably at-ease, but someone with a mouse can find themselves tapping away content on their keyboard.
Players can change this behavior by adding both Preferences\In-Game\ScreenSpeedFactorOverride.txt and ScreenSpeedFactorOverride.txt to their Steam\Program Files\Steam\config\override folder. These both look like this:

The default setting will work on both touchpad and mouse, the touchpad setting on touchpad only, and the mouse setting on mouse only. So long as you have a valid setting both
