the last two days of his holiday are spent with his parents and family back home. he does his best to convince his mom to let rebecca move in with him, and after one last visit with his dad who is upset that miguel didnt tell him that he had bought rebecca a new car, he and his mom finally agree to let her move in. he continues to help with her care and his parents continue to fill him in on how their lives have changed since the attack.

their new lives are thrown into chaos when they learn of the recent deaths of janice, victor, and albert, the originals of the mishima zaibatsu firm. the deaths have been well-publicized, but none of the relatives have been officially informed. local police believe that the zatistas were killed by the same people who killed miguel’s brother and sister. miguel, meanwhile, has only a vague recollection of them. he is determined to track down and murder the masterminds of the attacks, including kazama, and his parents plead with him to be careful.

the odd thing is, there were several occasions where he seems to be holding back on using his knives. several times, he seems to be waiting for a better opportunity to use them. it is really peculiar and quite possibly a case of the writers simply forgetting to show him using them. even more curious is when he has the knives drawn and his hands are on the hilt, but he chooses not to swing them. the most obvious example is after he fights randall. miguel draws his knife, but doesn’t swing it. instead, he attacks the older man with a flurry of punches and kicks that result in a few lucky hits.
after the fight is over, miguel asks rebeccas permission to speak to beth. rebecca lets him in, and their first words to each other are: youre not sleeping again, are you? there are so many things we have to talk about, miguel says. and without missing a beat, rebecca responds: no more baby stuff, im afraid. rebecca asks miguel to take a shower, and then the two of them start to talk. there are two big sections of this episode. first, its the fight with randall and second, its rebecca and miguel talking. the fight is resolved, and despite randall’s threats and insinuations that rebecca will leave him, he and miguel share a hug.
the next day, im on the porch with kevin and beth. i have to ask for your help, rebecca says, and then leaves us. miguel says: i know youve been angry at him for leaving me, beth says. but i love him, and i know you do too. we want him to leave you alone, but if you could just let him try to fix this, he says. beth smiles at the sentiment, and shakes her head. you know i cant. i love him too, she says.
