Lolita became a member of CARPHA when she was appointed by the Board to serve on the Steering Committee. As a member of the Steering Committee, Lolita was responsible for organizing CARPHA’s annual meeting. She is also a member of the National Association for Black Law Enforcement (NABLE).
The Board and Advisory Group are responsible for the financial health of CARPHA. Within this context, the Board is responsible for setting the goals and objectives for CARPHA’s future. The Advisory Group assists the Board in the accomplishment of this task. The Advisory Group also conducts a thorough review of CARPHA’s financial condition and status on an ongoing basis. Each group meets individually and together. The Board and the Advisory Group are comprised of nine people, four of which are elected officials and the other five being appointed by the Board.
Each of CARPHA’s members is compensated, either, in cash, check, or company stock. For services rendered, each member receives $1,100 a month. The Board regularly meets and consults with the Advisory Group to assist CARPHA in accomplishing its mission, but the Board makes the final decisions regarding its operations and finances.
Board minutes, financial reports, and meeting minutes of CARPHA’s Advisory Group are available upon request. All members are invited to attend Board meetings. If a member is invited to an Executive Board meeting, he or she must notify the Board a week before the meeting so that it can assign an alternate. Board meetings usually occur on the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m.
