we are approaching the 16th anniversary of the publication of nel noddings’ seminal work, the design of everyday things, and the 20th anniversary of her passing. in this book, noddings identifies, analyzes, and classifies objects and design aspects as “ordinary” or “unusual,” and then explains how the design of everyday things can enhance the quality of life of their users. noddings is one of the most well-known academics in the field of education, and her work has focused on how to improve teaching and learning, and on how to make education more personal, relevant, and effective. she is the author of more than 20 books, including her most recent work, the conversation in education, which explores the “conversation of education” as a field for creative conversation and knowledge production.
