transformers: dark of the moon was released on the xbox 360, playstation 3, wii, and nintendo ds on june 14, 2011. it features a story set between revenge of the fallen and dark of the moon, showing the life of sam witwicky after the events of the first film. the wii edition of the game is a motion-controlled game, and also features new features such as “co-op play” and “real-time battle” to play online against other players. the game features five modes: arcade, survival, assault, campaign and skirmish. arcade mode is a single player mode, where the player must fight through the various transformers as they come to earth, while the other modes are online multiplayer modes. the game was developed by activision under the title transformers: war for cybertron, before being re-branded. according to an e3 2011 conference, the pc, playstation 3, and xbox 360 versions will be released simultaneously worldwide.
the game features five stages in the campaign mode. the first is a flashback to the events of transformers: dark of the moon, where the autobots, decepticons, and humans are united in defending earth. during the second stage, the autobots and decepticons clash, and the humans are forced to evacuate to the ark. the third stage is the player’s first mission as a decepticon. in the fourth stage, the humans are taken to a decepticon base, which is destroyed, and in the fifth stage, the autobots and decepticons fight for control of the ark. in the fifth stage, the ark is moved to a new location, where it is guarded by a squad of decepticons. the autobots must fight their way to the ark and deactivate its self-destruct mechanism.
megatron is also aware of optimus’ change of heart, and comes to earth to destroy him. at the beginning of the game, a u.s. senator states to him that the autobots are responsible for the crash of a spacecraft carrying a president, and optimus replies that he’s responsible for the death of a senator, and that the death of a senator is more important than the death of a president. prime tells the humans that their planet could be destroyed at any moment. by destroying the all spark, megatron destroys the matrix of leadership, which optimus retrieves and then gives to humans. the humans then decide to travel to cybertron to bring back the matrix of leadership, which optimus also leads them to. when they arrive, the humans start fighting each other over what to do with the matrix, and they retrieve it, but optimus continues to attack them. the humans then take refuge on an island. optimus tells them that he had his communication network destroyed and that cybertron is now in danger. he begins to leave, but doesn’t tell them what to do with the matrix. as he leaves, megatron finally realizes what has happened. however, their ship is destroyed by a m.u.c.l.e. ship. optimus then tells them that they must return to their planet, but they must abandon their vehicles. they go underground to survive, and prime takes the matrix of leadership. however, as they escape, a storm knocks them off course, and they crash on another planet. optimus returns to earth, and the battle with megatron starts. in the united states, the game was released on dvd and blu-ray disc. at the start of the game, the character has the option of playing as either a human or a decepticon. to play a human character, the player has to play the game with different human profiles. to play as a decepticon, the player can choose either red alert or thundercracker. to play red alert, the player can choose between starscream, who was in the film, or wheeljack. to play thundercracker, the player can choose either jazz, or knockout. all versions of the game include online multiplayer in which up to 10 players can play at once. 5ec8ef588b
