I can understand where youre coming from but when one of my closest friends attempted suicide, and I had a 4 hour phone conversation with him on a late Saturday night. I asked him what inside him told him to stop himself, and he told me that the lyrics of the song Guns For Hands taught him not to believe his inner thoughts of suicide, self-harm, and depression. My point is, Twenty One Pilots is trying to appeal to my generation in order to pull them in, and once they pull people in, their goal is to try to spread a message of spiritual and internal hope. I know youre an adult and Im still a teenager, which pretty much makes what Im saying to you inferior But I just want you to know that they really helped my friend and in that sense they helped me too. I hope your daughter is doing well, you will both be in my prayers.
I have dipped into several God based religions since I was a kidnow 40 with 7 kids of my own. I greatly enjoy the 21 Pilots! I saw my son, age 20, going through some very deep hurts. I saw him falling deeper and deeper into sadness. I then saw him stumble onto 21 Pilots. Now, he has his smile back. It was not church that he attended that gave him his smile back, it was a 21 Pilots concert. In fact, a church may have just offered him more disappointments than he already had.
How is that? Twenty One Pilots is a band that sings about overcoming hardships and the struggles in life. You are listening to the band that is trying to unite those struggling with mental illness and depression. Your definition of them being preachers is funny because they are just trying to unify people and the message that is coming through from them is “I struggled with depression and drugs, to live a normal life.” See, there is no preachers here. Its a normal person trying to spread a message of hope and inspiration to people who are going through the same struggles and uncertainties they went through. I hope that your daughter is doing well! I hope the people who care about her are reading this. If they are, you have my prayers! And dont blame me for your brainwashing. Blame yourself. You are the reason why you dont understand this band and why you have not heard of them!
This is a very common misconception and I have seen it over and over again. Tyler has been quoted to say he hates Blurryface and has said many times how important Vessel is to him. People assume from his hate for Blurryface that he hates Christianity and he does not. I have explained the 5 reasons why and I have heard from many Christians around the world and they agree with me. To be honest, I am sick of the ignorance and hatred of others that make up the majority of the world. The last thing that Twenty One Pilots has ever pretended to be is a Christian band.
They released their first self-titled EP in the fall of 2012, but became a household name with their follow-up EP, Vessel, released in January 2013. Both EP’s were well received by critics and set the tone for the duo’s second studio album.
From Jesus I’ve learned not to judge a book by it’s cover, but to judge it by it’s contents. How did Jesus judge those who came in contact with him? He did not condemn them, or, more correct, he did not judge them because they were sinners, and he saved them. This is how I’ve learned to do it. Wether twenty one pilots is good or bad, you know they are followers of Christ. Followers, not champions. Champions are the guys who do all they can to win the game. Followers are the guys who play to win. They are humble and just try to play the game and do what they can to win.
Because Vessel is so vast in scope it is often considered a concept album, which is fine with me, but it still has a hell of a lot more singable songs than most concept albums. Its clear their reason for calling it a concept album is because the metaphor fits so well, and their message is so consistent throughout all the songs.
