no, there is no possibility for the dragon user to delete the utterance permanently. this is a feature of dragon. just like auto correcting word processors, dragon cannot accept input from the user if they do not want to accept it and they cannot control whether it is entered as input or not. the only way to delete your utterance permanently is to use dragon’s hard deleted history feature. it can be setup to run in the background, so it does not have to be active all the time. it will start dictating automatically when you turn your mac on and if something is new in your conversation, it will continue dictating until your reboot your mac by itself.
the sounds that you import into dragon may be spoken by the different models of voice synthesizer that your mac may have. if you have one of the older models, you can add sound files to your library from a separate online system. this is not the case with the latest generation dragon. there is no online database of sound files.
if you hold down the command key when you start dragon you will see the list of voice templates that are available. if you want to, you can change them by selecting the one that you want and then hitting command + s. if you do this, you will have to reinstall your dragon software. i do not recommend this, unless you are very good at finding the correct voice library for your mac. i believe this is a nuance software product. it may be possible to get your old library into dragon 12 if you can find the computer or the disk. i have not tried to do this yet.

i am not sure i can pinpoint exactly what it is that appeals to me about the software, since it’s been so long since i last used it. maybe i’ve been spoiled by various other dictation software in the time since then. however, there are some things that i like about the software. it’s completely free, you don’t have to register to use it, no special characters or accents are required, and there’s hardly any limit on the length of the text you can dictate at one time. it has a lot of functionality, but it’s not overwhelming. it feels like the right balance of easy to use and hard to use. i like the fact that it’s easy to use, but hard to get the hang of. i like that it’s very flexible and easy to get things to fit around your needs. it’s not as difficult to get to know as dragontalk, and it’s so much easier to use that i don’t find it frustrating at all. what do you think? do you like this software? do you think this software is worth the price?
here’s my favorite thing about it: so far i’ve been able to find things that it doesn’t work for. i’ve sent e-mails to apple and nuance asking them for help and found that i can upload my language to the software using the latest version (12).
i think this is primarily just pure laziness. i am a very successful proofreader and word processor in my day job, and very reluctant to spend time trying to get dragon to work. i can’t afford to spend days learning an app that hasn’t been updated in 5 years. i’m not comfortable using a mac for this, it’s not how i normally work on a laptop, so i would have to invest a lot of time in learning how to work through all of the menus and find the right settings every time. the situation would be very different if i were using dragon on an ipad or something similar. i would not have this option. the software would give me the benefits of speech recognition and easy to use dictation, even with my typical errors. nuance does not make any apologies for the limitations of the platform, and there is not much i can do about it. if i absolutely must use a mac, i use it as a long term investment and don’t expect any newer software for it to be viable for the rest of my life.
