the eighth season of gintama is shinjyu arc; it has seventeen episodes. it focuses on the shinjyu clan, which is led by gintoki, and his fight against the gunshi clan. he needs to take on the whole clan in order to save the twins.

the ninth season of gintama is the zettai zetsumei toshi arc; it has twenty-four episodes. it is the true main series arc, as the entire show revolves around it. its the tale of gintoki, who is on a quest to find the origin of the hattori-kun (okita) and his family. the story can be split into two parts: the first half deals with gintoki becoming a shinigami, and the second half is about him searching for the real origin of the okitas.

with a rich backdrop of history, a mischievous samurai set for an unpredictable adventure, and an incredible cast of characters, this is a show that may be for you if you like the madhouse brand of animation. while it is a bit of a hodgepodge of genres, gintama shows a great deal of potential.

gintama is a very funny anime with a great plot, great characters, great action, and a great soundtrack. it is definitely a must-see for those who like the genre. i myself am enjoying the series a lot and it has its flaws (such as a slow start) but the series is still good.

in the gintama anime, the story starts with gintoki (a samurai) who runs a kendo school, and the audience is given a glimpse of how he got his nickname. to his guests, gintoki is a wacky, loud-mouthed and rude man, but he is not like that at all. he just likes to tease his guests.
