the game looks great and the interface is simple and intuitive, a great feat considering how long it’s been available. alliances are an interesting new feature but unfortunately i didn’t see it come up in any of the demos i played. most of the mini-games are fun, but my favorites are the improved card games. the card game lobby appears a lot smaller than the classic risk but every detail is faithfully represented and the depth of each hand can be really great. if you enjoy card games such as diplomacy, puerto rico, black jack and many more then the million dollar game is sure to entertain. if you are looking for more of a brick breaker game, the classic risk features will be sure to get your adrenaline pumping. you have a wide range of options from your rank to the number of territories you want to take on, this will certainly be a game for both casual players and hardcore players alike.
the new ai is pretty close to perfect during single player and when playing online. there are some quirks, such as the ai frequently getting “stuck” in its last move, but the ai is competent and never lets you down. the multiplayer isn’t quite as polished as it could be, but aside from a few frustrating moments it’s generally okay. the rankings system in global domination is frustrating. you will rarely get a perfect ai, but this just adds to the appeal.
a little disappointing is that (with the exception of china and india) there are no historical scenarios. the historicals are as you would expect them to be, with the possible exception of world war 2. that said, the ai in that is quite competent, so there’s still more than enough potential for a campaign.
