faced with imprisonment, seiya and his fellow saints are forced to seek help from shion (seiya’s former love interest from the pilot movie), while their fellow saints galaxia, jason, and shiryu discover that they can still use their skill at warp speed by journeying to the past. now, the group has to find a way to defeat artemis in order to restore athena to her rightful position. the story of the quest, the struggles, and the new challenges awaiting the heroes is thus reborn on the silver screen!
like in the tv show, the film begins with a battle against hades. the goddess athena is banished and the war of the saints begins. all the sanigura anime characters starring in this film are not imported characters, but characters who were already in the anime and manga and appeared in the first three movies of the tv series. seiya and his followers are the remaining saints, who are battling the dark god hades in the underworld. the three other riders of the zodiac (cassiopia, hades, and pegasus) have been defeated previously. these three will be turned into the embodiment of the four horseman of the apocalypse in the fourth movie of the series. both the tv show and this film takes place in the year 3001.
the screening is usually followed by a japanese q&a session for the two voice actors who played the four leading heroes: shinobu motegi and sho terada. after this session, the screening is followed by the screening of the four riders of the apocalypse. for this film, the audio track is in japanese with english subtitles, and the two french dubs are in french with english subtitles.
