S2ENGINE is a free engine that can be used to create all kinds of games with all kinds of engines.
The concept of S2ENGINE is to create a free open source engine, that is simple to learn and use, but still powerful enough to create professional looking and sounding games easily
IMPORTANT: S2ENGINE cannot work without data.
As soon as the user starts S2ENGINE, he can select one of the available options, or write his own using the available API functions.
The available options are:
– Experimental: this option gives access to all the S2ENGINE API functions, thus all the possible variables, objects and functions are in the character character, or are independent, thus everything that can be done with data can be done with S2ENGINE.
– Environment: this option is intended for developing games in a specific environment
– Develop: this option is intended to create games in a standalone or webview with a coding environment
– Export: this option is intended to create games without a coding environment
Depending on the selected option, other options are available, or a function is changed (see the manual).
You can select and change the option to play the game directly from the S2ENGINE folder.
S2ENGINE is under heavy development and will remain free
Current known issues:
– Sound must be installed
– File size (depending on the selected option)
– Yes, there is a “launchpad”
– The first option is Experimental, so may be not all functionalities are implemented yet
– The first options, are not intended for immediate use
– Currently there are bugs but will be fixed in version 1.5.1
– There are no known issues for the other options
– At the moment the help is available only in Italian
– For the function or object parameters are not fully documented and the help is not available yet

The “C” option is just “Character-based” and does not use a coding environment.
The “E” option is just “Environment”-based, and will not allow you to use a coding environment if you select that option.
If you select the “Develop” option, you will need to add more code to your project, and the library as well. You will need to use files (text files) to store your project’s data (you will not be able to use the functions of the API directly in a.sw

Thank you so much for this nice tutorial, very clear! I really appreciate it, thank you for your effort. I’m new in S2E and i’ve been struggling to go through it, this tutorial, I can’t wait to continue by myself
It’s seems like the tutorial wasn’t made with Windows users in mind. There are a lot of things which could be explained more clearly. Some people are not very good with command line, and in that case using the integration with Steam requires them to know how to do everything manually, which requires less explaining and more practising.
In conclusion, I have no problem with what this tutorial does, it just that he only explains a lot of things which I personally couldn’t make sense of.

The video could be way more helpful than it is. I did not know that you would have to use the command line to play a game (that I did not remember) and if that is the case how do I open the desktop launcher and what is the difference between “Exit from DirectX code”? I did not know this and yet the video said to open the
