Evaluation and conclusion
It worked smoothly in our tests, without hanging, crashing or showing errors. We haven't come across any problems. CPU and RAM consumption was low, so Simple HostMonitor didn't hamper PC performance.

Introduction
I’ve created a utility to make file comparisons easy. You can compare two or more files and have a new file-type added to the file-list-box. You can compare any type of text (documents, text, etc), but it is designed for compressed files. The utility takes a full filepath as input and searches the directory for similar files.
This utility is designed in such a way that it can handle files of any type. It will detect plain text, docx, pdf, rtf, html files, documents, jpg, png, gif images, mp3, etc. There are no preferences. You can set it to ignore certain filetypes. Just add your specific extensions in the ignore-file, for example *.zip. The utility is also capable of detecting certain filetypes you might not have known about, such as jpeg, js, yml, etc. You can also compare files with similar compression: for example, zip, rar, gzip.
The problem with this utility is that it requires raw files. It works well when files were created with the utility itself, but doesn’t work when you compare things that were created without it.
If you know anything about filetypes, you can add them to the ignore-file.
The utility can also be run in silent mode. You can tell it to ignore similar files.
How to use
Download Utility 1.6.zip and unzip it.
The installation process should ask you to replace the IgnoreFile.txt with an empty one.

I think it could be better if you added a “Notify me when a website becomes unavailable” feature. I am not sure if that could be included into the application now, but it would sure be a nice feature to have. Also it would help to have the Hosts screen before or after the state screen. But I do agree with the other comments, it is a good tool for those that are really curious on what their website is up to. I am looking forward to a update to this application.
The only way you will get added a feature like this without discussion is for you to write it up and include it into the application.
Please keep in mind: this is the only program of the kind we have ever worked on that requires the user to write/record a custom script to achieve a particular goal.
It is a completely user created application and we don’t include any scripts or AutoHotkey scripts of any type within the app to make the users experience any less effortless (or less painless) when creating custom scripts for the app.

This software isn’t much too bad. It works well. The only drawback is that it doesn’t actually keep what websites are being checked in its own memory, instead it remembers the websites it checked to the previous versions of Windows. So for example, the version of Windows you are using and the previous versions (XP, Vista, Windows 7, 8) that you have used, you are going to have the host configured for each on those systems.
